This festival was established in Montreal, Canada in 1995. It was the brainchild off Colin Levy, (aka Iley Dread) whose vision was to create and
promote music that could be easily accepted worldwide. In March 1995 Kings of Kings held its first celebration, “The Kings
of Kings Anniversary Showcase”, in Toronto, Canada. In 1998 the Anniversary Showcase was moved to Jamaica where it
was held at Windsor Lawn in the parish of St. Ann. In 2005 the show was renamed "Unite the People - KOK 10th to read more...

In remeberance of Desmond Dekker-King of Ska

Desmond Dekkar
Desmond Dekker who made reggae music history in 1969 with the song "Israelites".Dekkar thrilled and confused listeners with the patois-sung opening line ""Get up in the morning, slaving for bread, sir, so that every mouth can be fed" One of my own personal favorites. Dekkar passed away May 25, 2006, so we give thanks for the music of Desmond Dekkar. Here is a link to a Irie Dekkar pageThe King of Ska
